The World Her Fingertips The Story of Helen Keller

Title: The World At Her Fingertips The Story of Helen Keller
Author: Joan Dash
Stars: 3 1/2
Description: Born in 1880 in Alabama, Helen Keller's first nineteen months were much like any other child's. But that quickly changed. After Helen endured a terrible fever, her mother discovered that Helen had become both deaf and blind.
Helen Keller one night became deaf and blind. Her whole world is different, can't see anything and can't hear anything except feel the vibrations around her. Her life is very difficult for her and her parents. But soon Anne Sullivan comes to the rescue. Teaching her how to talk with her hands. And soon Helen when she is a teenager goes to collage and learns much more. She soon becomes one of the most famous women in history.
Who is your favorite character and why? It would have to be Helen. Why? Because she is fearless and brave, she spoke and did unbelievable things.
What is your favorite part and why? I think it would have to be when Helen said,"But there's a difference for me, you know. Because in that other-room- I shall be able to see." Why? Because it is true, we will be healed, and because even though she can't see or talk, she still knows what's true.
Are you like the main character why or why aren't you? I don't think I am like Helen, because I am not fearless and I can't do all the amazing things she can do.

The Wide Window by Lemony Snicket

Title: The Wide Window
Author: Lemony Snicket
Stars: 5
Description: If you haven't got the stomach for a story that includes a hurricane, a signaling device, hungry leeches, cold cucumber soup, a horrible villain, and a doll named Pretty Penny, then this book will probably fill you with despair.
After the Baudelaire's misfortune in The Bad Beginning and The Reptile Room you probably don't want to read this book. There are horrible things in the review you are reading. The Baudelaire's just happen to cross Count Olaf again, a hurricane, a helpless aunt, and more.

InkHeart the Movie

Title: InkHeart

Made By: Warner Bros

Rated: PG for fantasy adventure action, some scary moments and brief language

Stars: 3 1/2

Description: Mo Folchart possesses a secret ability to bring characters from books to life when he reads them aloud. But when Mo accidentally brings a power-hungry villain from a rare children's fable to life, the villain kidnaps Mo's daughter and demands Mo bring other evil fictional characters to life. In an attempt to rescue his daughter, Mo assembles a disparate group of friends --both real and magic--and embarks on a journey to save her and set things right

First of all, I have to say that I think the movie went to fast. About 15 minutes into the movie, the bad guys have already come and stuff. And second of all, the didn't follow the book, they added some stuff from the second book into the movie. But after all of this, I think that if you haven't read the book, you would still like it.

There was some language in this movie and some crudeness, and some of the parts might scare younger children.

I think my favorite part from the whole movie, was the part with The Shadow, and I think that is one of the parts that might scare younger children.

The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket

Title: The Bad Beginning

Author: Lemony Snicket

Stars: 5

Description: From the very first page in this book when the children are at the beach and receive terrible news, continuing on through the entire story, disaster lurks at their heels. One might say they are magnets for misfortune. In this short book alone, the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, and a cold porridge for breakfast.

The Baudelaire's life is just horrible. Having that fire that killed their parents and that burned down their mansion, and the horrible clothing they have to wear, and most of all, Count Olaf. The mean, greedy, old man that is planing to steal their fortune.

I LOVE this book!
