The World Her Fingertips The Story of Helen Keller

Title: The World At Her Fingertips The Story of Helen Keller
Author: Joan Dash
Stars: 3 1/2
Description: Born in 1880 in Alabama, Helen Keller's first nineteen months were much like any other child's. But that quickly changed. After Helen endured a terrible fever, her mother discovered that Helen had become both deaf and blind.
Helen Keller one night became deaf and blind. Her whole world is different, can't see anything and can't hear anything except feel the vibrations around her. Her life is very difficult for her and her parents. But soon Anne Sullivan comes to the rescue. Teaching her how to talk with her hands. And soon Helen when she is a teenager goes to collage and learns much more. She soon becomes one of the most famous women in history.
Who is your favorite character and why? It would have to be Helen. Why? Because she is fearless and brave, she spoke and did unbelievable things.
What is your favorite part and why? I think it would have to be when Helen said,"But there's a difference for me, you know. Because in that other-room- I shall be able to see." Why? Because it is true, we will be healed, and because even though she can't see or talk, she still knows what's true.
Are you like the main character why or why aren't you? I don't think I am like Helen, because I am not fearless and I can't do all the amazing things she can do.
3 1/2 stars!
Natalie
